Shay Cuidon

Hey, I’m Shay! I have called Memphis home since 2017, when I moved here from Boston to teach middle and high school science. While I got to teach kids all about physical science, chemistry, and biology, I also had the opportunity to explore different learning styles and ways to make learning accessible despite challenges like ADHD, anxiety, and specific learning differences.

While I loved working in education, I found a calling to the mental health field. In 2024, I began my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Memphis. Before joining the Tutors team, I worked as an Academic Coach at the UofM, helping freshmen and sophomore students work strategically to get back in good standing at the university. I’ve gotten to see first-hand just how challenging keeping up with high school and college classes can be. I’ve also had the honor of witnessing students regain control of their schedules, their grades, and their mental health by implementing simple and effective strategies that target some of the core issues that keep them feeling left behind. In Academic Coaching, I focus on skills, habits, and tools that help your student tackle studying, homework completion, and staying organized so you can feel confident that when they come here for tutoring, their ability to stay organized isn’t getting in the way of progress.

When I’m not answering emails, managing the tutoring schedule, or academic coaching, I enjoy taking walks with my dogs, teaching hot Pilates, and riding my bike!
